How to Make a Large Hair Bun

The bun hairstyle is one of the more common hairstyles for women looking to wear their long hair up and out of the way. Sometimes, however, one is looking to create a bun larger than their hair would normally allow. For times like this, the tube sock method of bun creation allows for a large hair bun that still looks natural.

Instructions

Cut the feet off of the tube sock and the nylon dress sock.

Roll the tube of the tube sock from the top of the tube to the bottom, creating a ring shape.

Place one end of the dress sock through the center of the tube sock ring, and roll the nylon sock down around the tube sock. The nylon sock will make for a cleaner, easier-to-work-with finish than the tube sock.

Pull the hair back in a ponytail and secure it with a hairband, then slide the ponytail through the center of the sock ring.

Lean forward so that the back of your head is facing up, causing the ponytail to fall down around the ring.

Secure the ends of the hair around the ring with a hairband.

Spray the bun with hairspray to secure the hair in place.
