How to Make Messed Up Hair Styles

When you're short on time, nothing is easier than throwing your hair in a messy bun or ponytail. Messed-up hairstyles, such as buns and ponytails, are easy to create and are a great way to achieve a playful look. All you need to create your own messed-up hairstyle is a bit of styling gel, a wide-tooth comb, and accessories such as ponytail holders or barrettes. Read on to learn how to make messed-up hairstyles.

Instructions

Wash and condition your hair with products designed to increase volume. The products will give your hair the extra lift needed to create a messed-up hairstyle. Avoid shampoos and conditioners for dry hair. These products might make the hair limp and difficult to style. Avoid applying too much conditioner at the roots of your hair. Instead, focus on covering the ends.

Gently towel dry your hair for 1 to 2 minutes.

Apply a quarter-sized scoop of hair gel to your hair. Starting at the roots, spread the gel throughout your hair in an even application. Gently comb with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

Scrunch your hair with your fingers and allow your hair to air dry for 1 to 2 hours, or until completely dry. If you desire a wavy texture, braid sections of your hair and allow it to air dry.

Comb your hair with your fingers once your hair is dry. Apply gel or hair spray to your fingers, and use your fingers to comb through your hair.

Decide whether you want to put your hair up or leave it down. If your hair is long, create a messed-up hairstyle by gathering your hair at the base of your neck and twisting it into a messy bun. Create a frame of loose hair around your face by allowing strands of hair to fall around your ears. You can also create a ponytail.

If your hair is short, create a messed-up hairstyle by flipping your head upside down and applying hair wax or hair gel at the roots of your hair. Flip your head right side up and position individual pieces of hair the way you would like them.
