How to Make Black Hair Culy & Wavy

Curly and wavy hair seems to never go out of style. Creating this style can be accomplished through many hairstyling techniques. These hairstyles can be easily accomplished by a professional stylist. If there is no stylist to visit, however, these looks can be achieved at home with little to no experience. Learning how to create these styles takes patience and practice.

Instructions

Wash the hair with a conditioning shampoo to infuse moisture. Having a curly or wavy hairstyle can dry black hair so much that it might begin to shed. Therefore, after washing, condition the hair to further moisturize. Blast the hair with a shot of cool water to set the conditioner in the scalp.

Blot dry the hair with a towel. Follow the conditioner with a leave-in conditioner to ensure the hair remains moisturized through the heating process. Comb the conditioner from the scalp to the ends of the hair with a wide-tooth comb.

Part the hair on one side starting from the forehead stopping at a point in the crown of the head. The part should stop in line with the tip of the ear. Comb the hair down to further refine the part.

Arrange the damp hair into four sections including two sections on either side of the head and two sections on either side in the back of the head. Begin sectioning one section of the front into three smaller sections horizontally.

Section one part of the smaller sections into two vertical sections. Place a 1/4-inch roller under the end of a vertical section. Roll the hair under the roller until the roller reaches the scalp. Secure the roller in place with a bobby pin. Repeat the same process on the second vertical-parted hair piece.

Part the second of the three-hair section into two vertical sections similar to the first section. Repeat the same rolling process except roll the hair in the opposite direction from the first. Alternate this process on the last of the three sections. Replicate the entire process on the remaining three sides of the head, but use 1/2-inch rollers for the back hair sections.

Sit under a hairdryer for at least one hour until the hair is dry. Apply hairspray and remove all the rollers. Run all five fingers on each hand through all the curls to loosen them.

Define some curls in different areas of choice throughout the head with a curling iron. Section a one-inch section of hair and begin spiraling the hair around the curling iron from the bottom of the hair to the scalp. Let the heat define the curl for at least five seconds. Release the curling iron and repeat the process in various sections throughout the hair.
