How to Scrunch Straight & Fine Hair

Scrunching your hair is an easy way to get a casual, beachy style. This type of look is easiest if you have curly or wavy hair that is relatively thick. If your hair is straight and fine, you will need to put in some serious work to scrunch your hair to get the waves that you desire. In addition, you must use styling products and tools to help you along the way.

Instructions

Use a spray bottle to spray your hair with water to dampen it. Comb through the hair to make it smooth and tangle-free. Apply a setting lotion to your hair; avoid the roots as it will make them greasy. Another option is to add mousse to the hair.

Separate the hair into 2-inch to 3-inch sections. Roll each section of hair in standard, soft, sponge rollers. If you don't want to sleep on rollers you can braid each section and secure the ends of it with a rubber band. Sleep with the curlers or braids in your hair overnight.

Gently remove the curlers or braids from your hair. Use your fingers to separate the curls. Gather your hair in your hands and scrunch it with your fingers. Do this on your entire head. Spray a mist of hairspray on the hair after you do so.

Aim a hairdryer at the hair and at the same time scrunch it up against your scalp. Keep aiming the hairdryer at the scrunched hair.
