Instructions for Wrapping Head Wraps

African head wraps are a way to express individual style while practicing religious and cultural beliefs. They are traditionally worn with a big "bun" in the back of the head to hold the excess fabric in place. You can wear a head wrap regardless of the cut, texture and length of your hair. African head wraps are beautifully decorated pieces of fabric that are found in an array of prints and colors. You can choose a pattern that matches your outfits.

Instructions

    1

Unwrap the fabric until it's one long piece. Place the fabric on your head and pull the ends of the fabric down until your hair is covered. One of the ends should be longer than the other.

    2

Take the longest end of the fabric and twist and wrap it around your hair. Continue to twist the fabric around the hair until it's completely covered. Hold the end of your hair with your fingers and twist the hair wrap with your hair inside. Continue to twist until your hair begins to coil into a bun.

    3

Tuck the ends of the fabric under the bun and secure with bobby pins. Gently shake your head to ensure the wrap is secure. If it feels loose, add more bobby pins or start over.
