Most people would agree that the bathroom is probably the easiest place in the home to find stains. Sometimes these stains even extend to the tools and appliances we use. Curling irons can get brown stains from burned-on hairspray or hair dye. To prevent further staining or contamination of your hair, you want to remove these stains as soon as possible using one or more of the following methods.

Instructions

    1

Check that the curling iron is unplugged and cold to the touch before attempting any cleaning.

    2

Dampen the corner of a washrag or cloth with rubbing alcohol. Rub on to the surface of the curling iron until the stain is removed. Wipe away any remaining alcohol with another corner of the cloth or a whole new cloth dampened with clean water.

    3

Mix three parts baking soda to one part water to form a paste if you don't want to use rubbing alcohol. Rub on to the stains, and let the iron sit for at least 10 minutes. Wipe the paste away with a cloth dampened with clean water.

    4

Dry the curling iron with a clean towel. Make sure the curling iron is completely dry before using again.
