How to Use a Round Brush While Blow Drying Hair

Blow drying hair is the basis of most hair styles, and an important step in smoothing and taming most hair types. Round brushes are often used when blow drying to create volume or soft curls, and can be used to style hair in a variety of ways. Round brushes are available in a many sizes -- smaller brushes will result in a tighter wave, and large brushes will create looser ones.

Instructions

Apply styling products to wet hair -- root-lifting sprays or mousse can add volume, and straightening products will tame frizzy hair types.

Comb through your hair with your fingers, using a blow dryer to remove most of the moisture. Tousle your hair to help add volume, then switch to the round brush when your hair is barely damp.

Pin up the top 2/3 of your hair using a clip or elastic. If you're using an elastic, secure your hair as loosely as possible to avoid creating a crimp.

Brush through your hair in sections of 1 1/2 inches at a time with the round brush, while aiming the blow dryer from above. Start the round brush in the roots of each section of your hair, and roll the brush away from your head while moving to the ends. Roll the brush in this way three to five times per section of hair.

Aim the blow dryer from below and use the round brush on top to flip out the ends of your hair if desired.

Remove the next layer of hair for drying from the layers secured on top of your head, and repeat steps four and five. Continue blow drying and styling until all of your hair is dry.

Finish with the styling product of your choice; hairspray can help keep flyaway hairs in check, and pomade is ideal for shorter hairstyles.
