How to Put in a Fancy Hair Bun

The bun hairstyle is a common way to wear long hair up, and one that can be created in a multitude of ways. One fancy bun style includes a rope braid and hair pins to make a complex-looking design, using a process that can be completed by someone with no professional experience in styling hair.

Instructions

Pull your hair back in a ponytail, and secure it with a hair band at the base of the tail.

Split the pony tail into two equal portions.

Twist one portion of hair, and hold it between your teeth to keep it from unraveling as you twist the second portion.

Twist the second portion of hair, then take one portion in each hand, being sure not to let either portion unravel.

Braid your hair in a rope knot by wrapping each portion of hair around the other, then secure at the bottom with a hair tie. Do not pull the rope braid too tight when wrapping, as a looser braid provides a more aesthetically pleasing look.

Wrap the braid around itself in a spiral shape until all of the hair is wrapped. If your hair is so long that the bun becomes too large, you can make your bun tiered, with each tier slightly smaller than the tier before it.

Secure the bun in place using hair pins.
