How to Use a Bristle Curling Iron

Bristled curling irons are easier to use than conventional curling irons, leaving your hair with a perfect curl. The bristles brush your hair as you are curling it to ensure every strand is curled. This will leave your hair with more volume and make it appear thicker.

Instructions

Preheat your bristle curling iron.

Apply a heat-protective serum to your hair. To do this, squirt an amount of serum the size of a nickel into the palm of your hands. Rub your hands together and spread the serum throughout your damp hair using your fingertips. Start at the roots of your hair and work your way all the way to the bottom of the strands. Use a brush to brush through your hair to ensure the serum is evenly spread throughout each strand. Also, make sure all tangles or knots are removed.

Section off your hair. Sectioning your hair into three sections makes it much easier to work with. Separate the bottom layers of your hair from the top. It will appear as if you are preparing a half ponytail. Section off the bottom layers with a hair clip. Separate the top layers left over into two different sections. Part your hair where it usually sits and separate into two different sections, holding them with clips.

Work with one section at a time, starting with the bottom section. Remove the clip from the bottom section of your hair and brush through it once more before you start.

Pull away a small piece of hair from the section and place your bristled iron underneath the hair at the root. Brush down through the strands to almost the bottom of your hair. Once you reach the bottom, roll the curling iron up toward your scalp so that your hair is wrapped around the bristled iron.

Let your hair sit in the iron's heat for approximately 10 seconds, and then gently release all of the hair.

Curl each section in different directions to ensure a more natural look. Once you have finished curling the bottom layers, move on to the other two sections until you have curled all of your hair.

Apply final touches to your hair to ensure the curls last all day. Hold hairspray about 6 inches away from your hair, and spray an even coat over all of your curls. While you're spraying hairspray, use your other hand to scrunch your hair into a tighter curl.
