Round Head Long Hairstyles for Teens

Round faces are faces that are about the same length from top to bottom as they are from ear to ear. Those faces have the potential to look too thick if the right hairstyle isn't used. Fortunately, there are some funky ways to style your long hair that will have a slimming effect and still be fun to wear.

Adding volume to your long hairstyle, especially at the top, will help lengthen your overall face shape. A recent trend for 2010 are volumizing inserts that can be placed under a chunk of hair at the top to add volume without teasing your hair. These can be used above ponytails or simply under loose hair for an artistic effect. Pulling the top half of your hair up and back and making a big loose bun will produce volume in the right location. Try adding flowers or flourishes to the hairstyle at the top as well.

If your hair is already thick and curly, you will have no trouble adding volume to create face length. However, if your hair is finer, adding layers will help achieve a fuller effect. This is a technique that will create many different lengths of hair within your whole hairstyle. The layers will break up the roundness a bit. Stick with mainly long layers away from your cheeks, which will add the allusion of length toward the bottom of your face rather than the top.

Another good technique for round faces is to add layered or choppy bangs to your long hairstyle. These will mask your face shape a bit and break it up in a similar way as the long layers. Letting the bangs extend or fall down at an angle toward one side of the face will be a better look than straight across the top. Keep the hair mainly straight and unlayered around your cheeks to keep from adding width here, so don't let bangs grow that far down.
