How to Tie Hair for an Elegant Ponytail Updo

A ponytail updo looks complicated, but it's actually a very simple style that's cool and comfortable for hot days, but sophisticated enough for a night on the town. It's even elegant enough for a special event like a wedding or a prom. It's so easy that you'll probably be able to do it yourself and the only requirement is that your hair is at least medium length.

Instructions

Start out with hair that's freshly washed and conditioned and brush the hair thoroughly, making sure it's completely smooth and tangle-free.

Smooth some hair gel or mousse through the hair to control frizz and keep it manageable and easy to handle.

Bring the hair back into a ponytail and secure it with a soft hair band.

Divide the ponytail into three sections. Use the curling iron or hot rollers to curl the sections under towards the nape of the neck.

Allow the hair to cool and then roll the curls under and towards the neck with your fingers. Secure them with bobbie pins.

Mist the curls lightly with hair spray to keep wisps under control.
