How to Scrunch Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair is hard to manage, as it won't keep a style and frizzes up at the slightest hint of humidity. Scrunching styles the hair so it looks naturally curly or wavy and keeps the frizz under control. After the hair has been scrunched, let it dry completely without using a hair dryer. Scrunched hair can then be worn long, put into a pony tail or worn in a loose up-do.

Instructions

Wet hair. Add a nickel- to quarter-size dollop of moisturizing shampoo to the palm of your hand. Exactly how much is needed depends on the length of your hair. Longer hair will require more shampoo. Add a bit of water to the shampoo and then spread through hair. Rub suds through the hair and scalp.

Rinse thoroughly for at least 60 seconds. All traces of shampoo should be gone.

Apply defrizzing serum per label directions. Some serums require the hair to be soaking wet, while others are meant to be applied to towel-dried hair. Check the label as defrizzers don't always need a conditioner applied to the hair after shampooing but before the serum.

Towel dry hair by blotting with a towel, rather than scrubbing. Add a quarter-size dollop of styling mousse to your hands and work through the roots of your hair. Add another quarter-size dollop and apply to the ends. A third of fourth dollop for the ends may be necessary depending on the length of your hair.

Comb hair from the ends to the roots with a wide-toothed comb. Gently work the comb through tangles rather than pulling. Part hair as usual.

Work your fingers through the hair, as if your fingers were a comb, beginning at the sides, then back and finally at the top. Lift the hair from your scalp with your fingers.

Spread you fingers of one hand wide with the palm facing upward. Place the hand underneath a section of hair that is about 2-inches wide. The heel of your hand should be facing forward. Close your hand over the section of hair as you push the hair upward and toward your scalp. Release when your hand is fully closed at your scalp.

Repeat until the hair as been completely scrunched. Continue until hair is about 60 percent dry.
