How to Make a Rope Headband

Time-management studies show that women spend more time styling their hair than on any other part of their beauty routine. Try this quick, easy and fun styling trick to tame your hair when you don't have time to shampoo. The rope headband works best on medium to long hairstyles.

Instructions

Part your hair any way you wish-down the middle, on the side or on the diagonal. To add a little height to your hairstyle and disguise oily roots, lightly tease the hair at the crown of the head. Smooth the top layer of hair over the teased area.

Take a one-inch section of hair from the nape of your neck. Put a small amount of styling product, like hair cream or gel, on the section. Make sure you distribute the product evenly.

Divide the section in half. Twist each section separately to form two coils, the twist the coils around each other.

Wrap the twisted rope of hair over the top of the head, like a headband, and use two crisscrossed bobby pins to secure the end of the rope to the hair. Bobby pins hold hair most securely if they are facing downward.

Repeat Steps 2 to 4, wrapping the twisted rope the other way over the top of the head. Tuck the end of the second rope under the first rope. Again, secure the end of the rope with two crisscrossed bobby pins. Your hairstyle is now complete.
