How to Use a Chi Flat Iron to Style Hair

Chi flat irons are the gold standard of flat irons. They are prominently featured in salons and only sold online and in specialty beauty shops. They control the amount of heat that touches the hair, keeping the temperature even from start to finish. They work quickly and effortlessly to make hair smooth and flawless. You can use them to create pin straight hair, or to make waves and flips by wrapping hair around the barrel after straightening. Pair your Chi flat iron with good styling products to protect your hair and finish your style.

Instructions

Wash and condition your hair with a good hydrating conditioner. Flat iron heat can strip your hair of moisture and oils, so you want to make sure you have well-conditioned hair. Towel the hair dry.

Rub a dime-sized amount of your favorite heat styling product in your hair to help smooth the hair as you flatten it. Start at the roots and work to the ends. Use a little extra product if necessary to make sure you get the ends. This gives an overall smoother look. But it also helps defend against split ends and breakage from the high heat.

Turn on the flat iron and allow it to warm up completely. While it is warming up, use a hair dryer to dry your hair in sections on a round brush, pulling as you dry, to begin to flatten and polish your hair.

Pin your hair up in sections to make flattening easier. Begin at the bottom of the head, nearest the face, and work toward the top of the head. Take a 1-inch section of hair in your hand. Starting at the root, pull the flat iron down from root to tip in one continuous motion. Stopping in the middle of the hair section can cause a crimp in the hair, so make sure your movements are smooth. Continue this over your whole head.

Use the Chi flat iron to add curls or flips to the hair by wrapping the ends of the hair around the barrel of the Chi flat iron as if it were a curling iron. Treat the hair with a finishing spray to add shine and control frizz. You can also use hairspray or mousse if you need extra control for your style.
