Whether you're doing liberty spikes or a full Mohawk, spiking very long hair can be difficult to do. Styling gel and hair wax is fine for hair up to 6 inches long, but if you are going for an extreme spike look, you'll have to use unconventional products to keep the style in line. People in the punk scene are masters at improvising to achieve their looks, and their hair is no exception. School glue is one of the most popular substances for achieving a tall, spiky look, and one that won't let go and fall down.

Wash your hair to remove any styling products or dirt and blow dry. Glue will get diluted if mixed with water and will not hold as well, so make sure that your hair is completely dry.
2Apply school glue to the hair that you want to spike. If you have a faux hawk, comb back the hair that won't be spiked up. If you have shaved sides, add glue to all of your hair. Add enough glue, so all of your hair is coated, and rub it in to make sure that is it spread to from roots to tips.
3Bend over, so your hair is hanging down, to style your hair. If you want a smooth Mohawk, use a fine-tooth comb. Use a comb with larger teeth for a rougher surface and a chunky look. Use your hands to smooth the hair into points for liberty spikes.
4Blow dry your hair while your head is still hanging down and your hair is upside down. This will take advantage of gravity while the spikes are drying, helping them to keep straight up. Dry your hair until the glue is completely dry and stiff.
