How to Style a Medium Length Bob Hair Cut

A bob haircut is a slightly blunt haircut that actually makes your hair "bob" when you move your head. It has been a very popular haircut for a long time because it flatters many face shapes. Maintaining an appealing bob haircut requires just a few styling techniques.

Instructions

Apply a styling product such as volumizer or mousse to wet or damp hair. These products will help the hair lift at the root creating more volume. Put a small amount of product into your hand (you can always add more, but start off sparingly) and work it into the hair beginning at the roots and then moving to the ends.

Take a round brush (preferably around 2 inches in diameter) in one hand and your blow dryer on a medium/high heat in the other and smoothly work down the strands. Flip your head upside down and start at the roots to achieve the most volume. Use the round brush until hair is fully dry. For a wavy bob let the hair air dry or dry without using a round brush.

Run a flat iron in a curved motion starting at the root and working down the shaft of the hair for a straight look. To style your bob into a curled or wavy style take a 1-inch barrel curling iron and curl 1-inch sections of your hair starting underneath and working to the top.

Apply a finishing product. If you're going for a smooth, straight look apply styling serum or smoothing cream to the tips of the hair. This will show off the layers and add shine. If you are styling it curly spray a medium-hold hairspray all over to hold the curls in place. To achieve maximum volume spray flip your head over and spray hairspray from underneath, hold five seconds and then flip your hair back.
