Medium Hairstyles for a Round Face

Medium length hair is easy to care for and ideal for those who have an active or hectic lifestyle. Straight hair looks great on those with a round face because it can elongate the face and make it appear slimmer, since it adds no bulk to the area around the face. Long layers should hit well below the jawline to add length to the face. This also takes focus off of a full face. A side part flatters a round face because it plays with asymmetry and doesn't frame the face in the same way as a middle part. Use a flat iron and styling cream to achieve smooth, straight hair.

Curls should never be tight, as this can cause hair to frizz and fluff up around the face, adding an even more round appearance to an already round face. The "lob" is a modern take on the classic bob hairstyle. The lob skims the shoulders, so it's a long bob thus the name. Hair is almost all one length, but boasts a few light layers throughout for movement. The layers are not very visible, but provide movement that adds life to this hairstyle. Hair can be straightened or slightly flipped with a flat iron to show off layers. To do the latter, take a 1- to 2-inch piece of hair and flat iron it away from the face, gently twisting toward the bottom half of hair. This adds a flip shape to the hair and makes for a playful, trendy hairstyle that works with every age.
