How to Make Wavy Curls With a Curling Iron

Wavy hair gives the appearance of casual style. Instead of polished curls or stick-straight hair, wavy hair is a tousled look that can be worn in all occasions. A curling iron with a 1- and 1/4-inch barrel can be used to create wavy hair. Excessive use of heated styling tools can cause your hair to dry out, so be sure to deep condition your hair whenever you wash it.

Instructions

Turn on your curling iron, and wait for it to heat up.

Brush your hair, and then put up the top half of your hair in a hair clip. This will help you to focus on the bottom half. Your hair should be completely dry before you being using the curling iron.

Take a 1-inch section of hair and open up the curling iron barrel so it can clamp down on the bottom of the hair.

Point the end of the curling iron barrel toward the ceiling, and start rolling the curling iron under until it reaches the top of your head.

Keep the hair wrapped around the curling iron for 20 seconds, then release it.

Repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have curled the entire bottom half of your hair.

Spray the bottom half of your hair with hairspray, and then remove the clip. Curl the top half of your hair, and then spray it with hair spray.

Run your finger through the curls so they begin to look like waves instead of curls.

Spray your hair with hair spray again to secure the look.
