How to Scrunch Your Hair With Gel

People with some amount of natural waves or curls have a hair-styling option that will add tousled and carefree waves to hair. With the use of styling products and a slow drying time, combined with methodical manual scrunching of the hair, you can create a head full of curls that will last throughout the day. Be sure to allow ample time to create the style, because slow drying is an important step of the hair-scrunching process.

Instructions

Wash and condition your hair with your usual shampoo and conditioner and then rinse it well.

Dry your hair thoroughly with the bath towel. Wrap your hair up in the towel for 10 to 15 minutes to help absorb the excess moisture in your hair and then remove the towel.

Comb through your hair with your fingers to remove any tangles.

Apply hair gel to the outer half of your hair, thoroughly covering your hair strands with the product. Apply the defrizzing spray after the hair gel if your hair frizzes easily. Do not apply any hair products to the hair closest to your scalp because this can weigh your hair down and ruin the scrunching effect.

Begin scrunching your hair with your hands. Use both hands to grab a small handful of hair in your hands and crumple the hair in your fingers. If you desire, you can use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment set to low heat to speed the drying time as you scrunch. Direct the blow dryer to your hair as you scrunch it with your other hand.

Continue crumpling your hair with your hands (as you would wad up a piece of paper to throw away), working your way repeatedly throughout your tresses, until your hair dries completely.

Spray your hair with hairspray after it dries completely to hold the style.
