How to Use a Ceramic Spiral Iron

There is a way to look like Taylor Swift--or at least have her hairstyle. If you have medium or long length hair, use a ceramic spiral iron to create beautiful spiral curls. Using a ceramic spiral iron to create spiral curls is more efficient than using a regular curling iron. Performing spiral curls on straight, curly or wavy hair is a time commitment. It might take 30 minutes to an hour, especially if you are doing it yourself. Ceramic spiral irons deliver the same uniform curls. The time it takes to create spiral curls will become shorter with practice.

Instructions

    1

Clean hair with shampoo before using ceramic spiral iron. The build-up of styling products can make curling the hair difficult. Fresh, clean hair is easier to curl. Wash hair and follow with a conditioner. Dry hair completely using a blow dryer or air dry.

    2

Preheat the spiral iron to the desired heat temperature. Most spiral irons heat-up in less than a few minutes.

    3

Apply favorite styling product to the entire hair. A thermal protection spray protects the hair from the heat of the curling iron. A styling mousse amplifies curls and and helps them last a long time.

    4

Comb hair with a wide tooth comb and clip hair into sections. Start with a section of hair at the back of the head, working your way forward.

    5

Wrap the spiral iron around the hair. Use the spiral iron to grab the end of the hair. Twirl hair around the spirals of the spiral iron. Hold hair in place for 10-15 seconds. Release the hair from the curling iron. Repeat process on the entire hair until complete.

    6

Apply a light hair spray to the entire hair. Do not comb or brush spiral curls. Instead, use your fingers to adjust any curls that might be out of place.
