You may be lacking a shampoo bowl or similar item in your home. Many individuals who style hair for friends or relatives may wash hair in the kitchen sink, if that sink has a sprayer. Depending on your home, however, you may find it necessary to wash hair in a bathroom sink. While this can be somewhat of a challenge due to the size of the person, washing hair in a bathroom sink can be done by using the correct techniques.
Instructions
- 1
Place a stool or a chair in front of the bathroom sink. Test out different stools and chairs until you find one that is a good height for the person to sit comfortably.
2Have the person sit in front of the sink (facing away from the sink) and extend their neck backwards.
3Place a towel underneath their neck so that it is more comfortable. If the person is extremely uncomfortable in this position, you may need to have him kneel, facing the sink, and tilt his head down.
4Turn on the water to the desired temperature. If the person's head does not go directly under the faucet, you may need to use a cup or other container to pour water from the faucet over their head in order to make sure that the hair gets completely wet.
5Towel dry the hair lightly so that it is not dripping wet. Have the person sit up. Because washing hair in a bathroom sink is not the most comfortable operation, you should give the person as many breaks as possible to sit up straight.
6Squeeze daily shampoo into your hands and massage it throughout the hair.
7Have the person extend his head into the sink once again and rinse the shampoo completely out of his hair, again using the cup if necessary.
8Allow the person to sit up once again, and towel dry the hair to remove excess water.
9Squeeze daily conditioner into your hands and work it through the hair from root to tip.
10Have the person extend his head into the sink and rinse the conditioner out completely, as in Step 7. Now the hair is ready to be cut and styled, or simply dried.
