How to Use Vidal Sassoon 3 Barrel Waver

Putting waves in your hair can bring new life to your plain, flat style. You can achieve this style by braiding your wet hair in small sections and letting it dry, but this is difficult and time-consuming. A three-barrel curling iron, also known as a waver, can produce this same style with much less difficulty. Vidal Sassoon's three-barrel waver will give you full, wavy hair in a fraction of the time of braiding.

Instructions

Plug your waver in, and allow it to heat up before use. The Vidal Sassoon three-barrel waver works much like a normal curling iron, heating the hair and pressing it between two lower rollers and one upper one to create the wave pattern. An indicator light will go on when the waver has reached the correct temperature.

Wash your hair before waving it. Wet your head with plenty of warm water, lathering it with a generous amount of shampoo before rinsing. Apply a handful of conditioner, massaging it into the scalp and rinsing until no traces of the conditioner remain in your hair. Towel dry and coat with a thin layer of heat-protecting spray to minimize damage the waver might cause your hair.

Comb through your hair to remove any tangles, and separate your hair above the ears, pulling the upper portion up and securing it to your scalp with hair clips. Waving your hair is much simpler, and the waves will last longer if you divide it into small sections and wave one small piece at a time.

Pull a 1-inch-wide section of hair away from the left side of your head, applying the iron approximately two inches away from your scalp. Leave the waver on your hair for five seconds, pressing down on the button with your thumb and lifting it away from your hair. Move it underneath the hair you just worked on and wave the next section, moving down until the entire section has been done.

Continue the waving process until you have worked your way around to the right side of your head, waving the entire bottom portion of your hair. Unclip the top and repeat the process on the upper portion, working your way from left to right again, spraying your head with a thin layer of hair spray to hold your waves in place.
