How to Use Glue as Hair Gel

Hair glue is traditionally used to style hair into Mohawks or similar stand-up styles. While you can achieve the same results with pomade or wax, many people still prefer the texture and holding power of regular glue.

Instructions

Wash your hair before styling so you're starting with a clean slate. Oils in unwashed hair can interfere with the glue's holding power.

Use a blow dryer on a high setting to get your hair mostly dry.

Begin working glue through your hair, working with one section at a time from front to back. If you're doing a traditional Mohawk, make sure to blend each new section into the last one so that the Mohawk looks uniform and not sectioned off.

Hang your head upside down and use a comb to help straighten your hair. Continue to blow it dry. Do not turn your head right-side up until the glue is completely dry. This will help your hair to stand straight up.

Go over your hair with a flat iron to smooth the ends out.

To remove the glue, rinse your hair with baking soda before shampooing it with a clarifying shampoo.
