The wispy layered look of the shag hairdo can look great for boys with a laid-back style. Keep in mind, however; shag styles only work if hair is grown out to your son's eye level to start. Shag styles for girls are adorable as well. Similar to a boy's shag haircut, girls should only consider this style if their hair is at least as long as their earlobe. The cut is similar to boys, however, with girls, the shag should be a bit longer. Instruct your daughter's hairstylist to create short layers that merges into longer layers on the side. For best results, recommend that your daughter's hairstylist use a razor to layer the hair and to create a tapered look that flows just past the ears. For daily styling, apply gel or hairspray to hold the form of the hair, after letting the hair air dry.
