How to Make a Headband With a Hair Scarf

When you have a beautiful scarf that complements your ensemble, make it part of your hairstyle to embellish your look. Whether the scarf is an oblong rectangle or a large square, you can quickly fold it to make a headband. A headband scarf can instantly become a simple yet fashionable hair accessory.

Instructions

Fold the scarf into a band that's about 2 inches wide. While a long, thin scarf works best for making a headband, you can also use a square scarf if you fold it into a triangle first and then fold it several more times to make a 2-inch band.

Brush your hair and arrange it into the general style you need for the headband.

Find the center of the band and drape the scarf over your head so the center is at the top center of your head.

Pull both ends of the scarf down the sides of your head and behind your ears. Pull the ends together at the nape of your neck beneath your hair and tie them together in a double knot.

Adjust the placement of the knot, if you desire. Keep it centered at the nape of your neck under your hair or pull it to either side and wear the knot behind an ear. A third alternative is to place the knot on top of your head to resemble a bow.
