How to wave your hair with a straight iron

Styling your hair can sometimes be a pain, but there are numerous tools that get the job done. If you have flat hair and would like waves, then consider using a straight iron. Not only can this great hairstyling tool straighten the frizz out of your hair, but it is also useful for creating beautiful waves. With a few easy steps, turn your boring hair into a gorgeous wavy hairstyle.

Instructions

Clean your hair thoroughly with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. It is always a good thing to start off fresh. Trying to style unclean hair with heat tools can cause a messy disaster. Remnants of old styling products can cause the straight iron to stick to your hair or even burn it. Doing this will give you an endless supply of unwanted split ends.

Turn your straight iron on and allow it to heat up for a few minutes. The warmer it becomes, the better your wave. In order to protect your hair from unwanted heat damage, use a heat protectant or straightening lotion before you begin. This will keep your hair from frying when adding heat to it.

Divide your hair into 1 inch sections for easier styling. If you have grab too much hair, then the wave pattern will not hold for very long. After sectioning your hair, clamp the middle part of the area and begin gently twisting the straight iron. It should wrap completely around your hair during this process.

Leave the straight iron on your sectioned hair for about 10 seconds. If you have thicker hair, then you may want to leave it just a little longer. Gently pull downward when releasing the straight iron from the sectioned hair.

Repeat this process throughout your hair and it will give you the desired waviness you have been looking for. For a lasting hold, use hairspray to prevent the loss of waviness. Although a hairspray generally leaves hair feeling stiff, there are many of them that will offer a flexible hold. This prevents your hair from feeling brittle and gives it a soft touch while holding your desired hairstyle.
