With so many people styling their hair straight, wavy hair can be refreshing and different. If you wish to create this look for yourself, it is surprisingly easy to achieve. Although there are many methods to get perfectly styled wavy hair, the best method is to use braiding.
Washing and Preparing Your Hair
Wash and lightly condition your hair, using a shampoo and conditioner that is appropriate for your hair type. After washing and conditioning your hair, towel it dry. Apply a small amount of de-frizzing agent throughout your hair, and then gently comb it with a wide-toothed comb. Remove any tangles using the comb and part your hair where you normally would. Take an absorbent towel and gently squeeze excess water out one last time before you begin to braid your hair. You will want your hair to dry as fast as possible once you have braided it.
Braiding Your Hair
With your hair still wet, use a hair clip and clip up your hair up from the bottom of your ears. This will create a horizontal part across the lower back of your head. You may need to use a comb and hand-held mirror to get a straight part in the back. Leave a small amount of hair at the bottom.
Start on one side of your head and gather 2 inches of hair. Divide that into three separate sections. Cross the section on the right over the section of hair in the middle, then cross the section on the left over the top and between the other two sections. This is how you braid hair. Continue braiding until you reach the end of the strands. Tie off the braid using a small ponytail holder.
Start creating the next braid by gathering 2 inches of hair and dividing it into three sections. Braid this part of your hair the same way as you did with the first section. Continue braiding across until you reach the other side of your head.
Grasp your hair clip and pull down more hair. Create a horizontal part across the back of your head, and use the clip to hold the rest of your hair up. The line should fall across the middle of your ears at the back of your head. Start at one side of your head, and gather 2 inches of hair. Braid 2-inch sections of hair all the way across to the other side of your head. Tie off each braid with a small ponytail holder.
Continue to pull down hair and braid sections of your wet hair. When your head is covered with braids, allow the braids to completely dry. Then remove the ponytail holders and undo the braids. You will be left with perfect wavy hair.
