How to Use Butane Curling Irons

To maintain curls when you are on the go, a butane curling iron can be very convenient. And because a butane curling iron does not depend on an electrical power source, there is no need to worry about searching for an outlet to plug it in. Butane cartridges give the curling iron its heating power, so whether you are on vacation or at the office, a butane curling iron can be an efficient tool to help keep your hair looking its best.

Instructions

Take the butane curling iron out of its convenient carrying case and press the 'off' button. It is very important that the cordless curling iron be switched off prior to inserting the butane cartridge to avoid combustion.

Remove the protective cap from the butane cartridge, but do not throw it away. You will need to replace it when you are done using the curling iron in order to store the cartridge safely.

Working in a clockwise motion, place the butane cartridge into the base of the curling iron handle and twist until the cartridge locks into place. If the cartridge does not lock, the curling iron will not be able to ignite and produce heat. The elements must be touching in order for the process to work.

Press the on button, and wait five seconds. After the waiting period press the start button. Upon pressing the start button you should hear a slight popping sound which means that the butane is igniting and preparing to heat up the curling iron. This may take several attempts.

Allow the curling iron a few moments to heat up and commence styling. When you are finished using the butane curling iron, press the off button and allow it to thoroughly cool.

Remove the butane cartridge by twisting it counterclockwise. Replace the protective cap and place the cooled curling iron in its carrying case along with the capped butane cartridge.
